PC Building Simulator is an immersive simulation-strategy video game wherein you can build computers and grow your very own PC repair enterprise. Developed by Claudiu Kiss and The Irregular Corporation, this 3D realistic-looking game features accurately modeled and fully licensed computer components from real-world PC manufacturers. 

Similar to games like Cooking Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator, PC Building Simulator is focused on giving a realistic experience when it comes to owning and running a PC workshop, as well as building and maintaining computers. While it doesn’t fully capture every aspect of this industry, it nevertheless provides fun for PC enthusiasts.

Is PC Building Simulator accurate?

The core gameplay of PC Building Simulator is right there in the title. You’ll be building computers from scratch and repairing those sent in by customers—all the while taking care of your humble tech business. What’s great about this game is that it’s partnered with actual computer component brands like AMD, ASUS, CORSAIR, Intel, NVIDIA, Razer, Acer, and more. Thus, you have access to various PC parts that exist in real life. 

These include, but are not limited to, computer cases, fans, CPUs, cooling devices, motherboards, power supplies, different types of storage, RAM, and graphics cards. This also means that you can build custom designs—and either you focus on achieving an aesthetic theme or your desired performance output for that build. Aside from the hardware, you’ll also be dabbling with the software sometimes. You’ll either be installing something, removing viruses, personalizing its interface look, or benchmarking it using 3DMark—which is actually featured in-game.

Is PC Building Simulator hard?

PC Building Simulator’s difficulty is mostly dependent on what your level of expertise regarding PC-building is prior to playing it. There are three game modes available: Career Mode, Free Build, and How to Build a PC. Career Mode is pretty straightforward, as it involves the main gameplay and the task of running your shop. You will have to manually check for customer requests via email to get jobs and keep an eye on deadlines while you order parts, build and repair computers, and even pay bills.

Free Build is the sandbox mode, wherein you can freely create PC designs by using unlimited money and unlocked parts and tools. Meanwhile, How to Build a PC is the proper tutorial mode on building computers—mostly geared towards novice players unfamiliar with it. This is separated from Career Mode’s tutorial since the job requests there don’t always have you creating a computer build completely from scratch. 

Thus, the gameplay itself isn’t too hard. However, the PC-building simulation isn’t complete, by all means. For one, some of the more critical aspects of repairing computers—such as data recovery and preservation—aren’t included in your job requests. Another issue is that while the game offers realistic consequences to failing certain tasks—like forgetting to apply thermal paste when you install a CPU cooler—it doesn’t offer important steps to the process, such as installing parts in the correct to avoid not being able to fit them inside the case.

Almost there

All in all, PC Building Simulator is a great simulation game that can double as a tutorial program for players new to this practice. While it doesn’t completely deliver everything involved in assembling a computer, it’s still fairly accurate and can be a great introduction to those interested in the more technical world of PCs. This is a highly recommended game to try out.
